I began taking a keen interest in photography in 1998, after I bought the Olympus 840L digital camera. This was a simple p&s camera. Very convenient for sending images over the internet. I read about the Advanced Photo System, and decided to get a APS camera. I was torn between Nikon ProneaS (because it looked so cute) and Canon EOS IX (because it had all the features of a standard SLR camera). I finally decided on EOS IX since I want to have more control over my photographs. EOS IX was bundled with EF24-85mm and EF55-200mm lenses when I bought it. 3 months after I got the EOS IX, I regretted my choice. APS is not common in Singapore, so processing cost was much higher and proceesing time was also longer. Had to wait about 5 days before I got to see the prints. Well, fortunately I could use the 2 lenses that came with it on a 35mm SLR Canon EOS body. So the choice of camera system was already made. I had to stick to Canon to keep my costs down. I did some research and finally decided on EOS 50E (ElanIIE). I reckon I would not out-grow this body so soon since it was a mid-level camera. (And, of course, I love the retro look of EOS 50E). Provia 100F was my fav along with the B&W films. In 2002, I went digital and bought the EOS D60. I upgraded to EOS 20D in 2004 and to the current full-frame EOS 5D in 2006.
