CPM2005 cont'd....

Gu, aka klang, complained that I didn't give him credit. Ok... let's go back in time a little..
Gu and I have known each other since 1996. (We met through internet chat rooms. Weird.. but online friendships do exist! But I'll talk about this in a separate blog.)
Both of us are very interested in photography. In 2003, I learnt about the Canon Digital Photomarathon and signed up for it. Gu didn't. But on the actual day 18 Oct 03, he was free and decided to join me. He offered to be my chauffeur-porter-companion-advisor-moral-supporter and actually stayed with me for the entire day. We had lots of fun that day and till now we still talked the experience. The combined effort paid off. I won the grand prize for my entry and I thought it was only fair that I shared my prizes with him. (Which was why some of the organizers remembered me. They were probably shocked that I was willing to give away the EOS300D DSLR! *LOL*)
This sort of started the collaboration between us. Last October Gu signed up for the competition too. But we worked as a team with the understanding that we would share the prizes if either of us win. This year it's the same.
Here comes the credit part.....
Because I had to run off for the concert, Gu completed the last leg of the event by himself. He submitted my shot on my behalf. He also stayed back to see the selected shortlisted winning shots. He was alone since Edwin & Leon left soon after submitting theirs. Not too sure when the entire thing ended but probably around 10.30pm. So while I was enjoying myself at the concert, the poor guy was back at the hall, analysing all the shortlisted photographs, studying the wow factors of the selected shots. And I knew he felt lonely because he kept sending me messages via sms. The next day, we actually discussed some of the shots and how we could improve. Now, that's what I call dedication!
This year we thought we would disregard the 1st thoughts that come to our minds upon receiving the assignments. Why? Because those ideas would probably occur to the rest of the competitors.
So strategy for next year.. shoot whatever ideas that come immediately to mind. Cos those would be disregarded by the rest! *LOL* Boy! I really love this event! Hopefully the rest had fun too!
