Need a Break..
very badly... feeling kind of burnt out lately. Not surprising considering the number of late nights working on my projects. I hardly get sick but just these couple of months I lost my voice twice.
Construction industry is experiencing a boom right now. Recently two large Integrated Resorts projects were awarded. And many residential properties in the vicinity of these IR projects suddenly see a huge jump in the property prices. And all of a sudden, many developers started increasing their private properties prices. And many people, afraid that the prices will escalate further, went into some sort of panic buying and ended up pushing up the prices even more. And developers who wanted to take advantage of this, started launching more residential projects.
Anyway, I'm in the geotechnical engineering line and am involved in many temporary excavation projects. So naturally projects started coming in fast and furious. I was caught off guard when my engineer suddenly resigned. My draftsman suffered some form of depression. Not from work but he felt lonely being in a foreign country with his wife and kids back in Philippines. He too, decided to quit. My younger engineer who hasn't been back to China for the last 4 years, wanted to fly home to visit his parents during the Chinese New Year period.
So all of a sudden, I had 6 brand new projects but no one to help me. I had to attend the meetings, do the analysis, prepare the drawings, conduct presentations to clients/authorities for all the 6 projects within 3 months. These are on top of my on-going projects. I almost died from lack of sleep and exhaustion.
I managed to push out most of it. Hopefully things will slow down a bit. need.to.catch.my.breathe.
*sigh*
