Friday, October 03, 20082008 Canon Digital Photomarathon (VI)
The moment I see Deepavali decorations up in Little India, I know. It's time for the photomarathon again. It's been a yearly event since 2003 and every year it's in October. And somehow, we would always end up in Little India without fail. Gu's right. Every time when we took part we would complain like crazy about the tasks, vowing never to sign up again. But when the time comes, we just couldn't resist it. Leon & I signed up already. It's the challenge, I guess. Leon said this time, he's gonna hang around Suntec City area, no more island-wide chase. I agree. Too tiring to be rushing all over the place to get our shots. Hopefully the photo themes are a bit more interesting this year. They ought to take hints from websites like http://www.usefilm.com/ or http://www.dpchallenge.com/. Very interesting weekly/monthly photo challenges. I was at Alan Photo Trading yesterday. Bought the EF24-105 f/4 L IS lens to replace my broken EF25-70mm f/2.8L. The focusing ring on the old lens was damaged during last year's holiday trip. Canon service centre told me they no longer have the parts for this discontinued lens. I decided to get the EF24-105 because of the the longer zoom, the IS and the lighter weight (even though I'm a sucker for f2.8s). Bought a grey set so it's cheaper. I need to do a rigorous lens test over the next few days since I'm only given the shop's 7-day exchange warranty. Planning to wake up early this Sunday morning & head down to Changi Beach for some dawn photo-shoot. I've been neglecting my photography for a while. Time to pull the dusty o' tripod from the store-room and get down to some serious shooting. Yeah! Labels: Games, Photography Sunday, September 28, 2008F1 Singapore GP
There's only 1 word to describe F1... deafening! I read about Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Reikkonen and the others.. but I'm not a F1 fan. In fact I was rather annoyed by the traffic jams caused by road closures for the F1 event. I was caught in so many jams at the perimeter of the F1 site over the last few days. Hubs told me we were invited to this BBQ event at the Marina rooftop Saturday night where we would have a nice view of the race. My response was luke-warm. There's no way we could drive there and the thought of jostling through the huge crowd did not excite me. I was right about the crowd. We parked our car at Bugis Junction and took the MRT to City Hall. The stretch through City Link was unbelievable! So many people about! Many in the red Ferrari polos & Ts. The moment we stepped out of the underground shopping centre into Marina Square, we heard it. That unmistakable roar of racer zooming past. That was when I felt the thrill. We quickly made our way to the Marina Square rooftop tennis court where the private event was held. Forget about the food. Lousy. But the view was good! We could see on-coming cars on one side and the cars making a sharp 90 deg turn at the other side. The cars were travelling very fast and I could see sparks when they braked to negotiate the bend. It was really exciting! And the noise was very very loud. Were given earplugs but those didn't help much. And I couldn't help but remembered Gu. He complained about his friend calling him up just to let him listen to the roar of F1 cars. I sent him a SMS asking whether he wanted to hear that again.. heehee.. I was so glad I brought along my video cam. I'm editing a video clip I took and will upload it to YouTube. Labels: Games Sunday, February 25, 2007Coolcat is ....

Saw this at Darth's blog and did mine too! It's quite nice and I wouldn't mind having it printed on a T-shirt.Zoolander is finally being screened here after 5 years! It wasn't exactly banned here. In the movie there was a plot to assassinate Malaysia's prime minister. My guess it wasn't shown out of respect for Dr. M of Malaysia. The relationship between Singapore & Malaysia was a bit strained back then because some political issues. Anyway I've already seen it on DVD a few years back. Ben Stiller's Blue Steel, Ferrari and Magnum looks which were the same suck-in-cheek, pouty-lips, pinched-eyebrow gaze, was hilarious. Of course I had to switch off whatever little intelligence I have to watch this show. Labels: Games Wednesday, December 14, 2005South-Parked Me
Was clearing my hard disk when I came upon my South-Park character.A while back, Gu aka Klang sent me a link to this website where you can create your own South Park characters. I created mine but forgot all about it until now. Might be an old link 'cos I'm not a South Park fan. And according to Gu, the character you create might even be your sub-conscious-self. Well. I don't know about that sub-conscious bit. But I think mine looks really cute. Labels: Games Saturday, October 15, 2005Sci-Fi Canon

Perhaps anyone reading this blog could help?
Gu is taking part in a contest of which the grand prize is a Mazda 6. But one of the requirements is to solve a word puzzle in order to find out the venue where the lucky draw would be held. We managed to figure out all the rest except the last sentence which is made up of 5 words... _ _ n a _ _ (no idea at all!) _ y e _ (dyes? eyes?) _ (single letter.. will have to be 'i' or 'a') p _ _ _ e_ _ (pigment? planets? plateau?) g _ m _ (game? gems?) Somehow I can't form any a coherent sentence. Any suggestions? p.s. The hunt for venue ended. Gu went and written his about it at his blog Labels: Games Thursday, June 23, 2005I taste like Alcohol?
Got this from Texas Biscuit. Thought I give a try. Hilarious! I was hoping to be coffee. It's Thursday already and I'm looking forward to the weekend. I've been busy the moment I got back from vacation. Imagine! I landed at 1am on Saturday and at 9am I'm already back in my office. And the next day (on SUNDAY!), I attended an urgent meeting called by my client who was worried that I might not be ready to give an important presentation on Tuesday. And on Monday, this same client, having received some last minute info, wanted me to incoporated those into my presentation. And as a result, I had to work through the night to get it ready for the presentation scheduled at 9.30am the following day. I'm getting too old for this. I did this Peanuts Characters Test at okCupid! And here's my results... I'm aSchroeder Wishy-Washy: 65%, Mental: 46%, Physical: 50% A prodigy from his very first appearance, Schroeder idolises Beethoven and spends most of his free time at the keyboard of his piano. He plays backstop for Charlie Brown's baseball team, but his heart belongs to classical music. The best way to get rid of annoying distractions is to yank the piano out from under them. ![]() I like Schroder. But me? a prodigy? Peanuts is one of my fav. I have some of the comics. But my collection is far from complete. I like all the characters though my fav is Linus. This test is at The Peanuts Characters Test. I don't think the test is too accurate, but it's fun! You're 104 proof, with specific scores in beer (40) , wine (116), and liquor (26). Screw all that namby-pamby chick stuff, you're going straight for the bottle and a shot glass! It'll take more than a few shots of Wild Turkey or 99 Bananas before you start seeing pink elephants. You know how to handle your alcohol, and yourself at parties.
heh heh.. Labels: Games Monday, February 28, 2005Musical Honesty
Can't remeber where I got this. I cut-&-pasted into my notepad a week back.
Instructions: 1. Open up the music player on your computer. 2. Set it to play your entire music collection. 3. Hit the "shuffle" command. 4. Tell us the title of the next ten songs that show up (with their musicians), no matter how embarrassing. That's right, no skipping that Carpenters tune that will totally destroy your hip credibility. It's time for total musical honesty. This is what I've got.. 1. 1927 Kansas City - David Soul 2. I Won't Hold You Back - TOTO 3. Venus - Bananarama 4. Eternal Flame - The Bangles 5. The Promise - When In Rome 6. Keep The Faith - Bon Jovi 7. Rhythm Nation - Janet Jackson 8. Sacred - Depeche Mode 9. 10538 Overture - Electric Light Orchestra 10. I Won't Leave You Lonely - Shania Twain Eternal Flame? yuck... don't really like that song. The rest are mix of pop & rock. Except for Shania Twain's, the rest are mostly 80s. So what's the conclusion? Beats me! p.s. Just realised my songs span across late 70s to current times. That's 30 years of music. |
