is back! Now I can watch the last episode of Season 3. I hate cliff-hangers so I refuse to watch this episode .. not until I have Season 4's premiere standing by. S4E01 was aired 18 Sep 08. So the wait is finally over! Labels: TV/Movies Tuesday, May 20, 2008Supernatural S3 Finale
I've loaded it into my Zen Vision last Saturday. But I couldn't bring myself to watch it. Dean's fate is decided in this episode and I don't think I want to watch it unless I know for sure Dean & Sam will return in S4. Right now I'm staying clear of all SN review sites. I don't want to know just yet. Maybe when the season returns in September, I'll watch it just the day before the premiere of S4. That way I don't have to suffer any cliffhanger for 4 months. I've thought about it. There's no way Dean's going to get out of the demon's contract. He'll die. In fact every episode leading up to this finale points to that conclusion. The only way out is for the boys to kill Lilith. For some reason, Lilith has not come face to face with Sam. Since Sin City, we know there's another demon out there. But the surprising part in the previous episode was that Lilith sent Bela to kill Sam. Why? Was Lilith afraid of Sam? Anyway I have my CSI, CSI NY and CSI Miami, House, Las Vegas.. that should keep me busy for a while until I gather enough courage to watch this last episode of SN S3. These fellas have too much time on their hand.
Must say, the Optimus Prime one was pretty impressive. Guess what movie will we be watching next? Labels: TV/Movies Friday, June 22, 2007Wednesday, June 20, 2007Thursday, April 26, 20070.7%
Episode 18 of Heroes ended with a cliffhanger... Mohinder was pinned to the ceiling.. Peter up against the wall with Sylar slicing his skull open. I waited 7 weeks and then I got this weird fighting scene that left me scratching me head. WTF is Peter doing with his back tuned towards Sylar! Back towards the enemy? That seemed too complacent to me. Sylar took his time rising the glass shards with his telekinesis power (which btw is a pretty cool scene). Surely Peter could see that and the very least he could do is DUCK! Come on, Peter! You could absorb the other person's power, at least you could have deflected some of the glass and then perhaps missed 1 "fatal" piece. If I were the director/script-writer, I would have done the scene differently. First, I would have Peter knocked about a bit more by Sylar (hey! If I going to make people wait for 7 weeks, I better give them more blood! heehee). Then Peter does his invisible thing. Sylar can't see Peter but brings up the shards of glass and shoots them with great force in all directions. Some of the glass pieces got stop in mid-air as Peter too uses the telekinetic power he asborbed from Sylar. Sylar sees it, knows exactly where Peter is standing. He raises a large piece of glass (or knife, whatever) from behind where Peter is "standing" and fires away. Peter is hit and becomes visible again. That way Peter will still be shot from the back and yet FACING Sylar!!!! And the other issue I have with this episode is ... Why didn't Mohinder kill Sylar when he had the chance to ??!! We all know that was his intention. He tried to shoot Sylar in episode 18 but failed. And then he, even though injured, somehow managed to master enough strength to knock Sylar out with the map (??!!). and then he took his time to check on Peter, and then bring Peter back home to his mom? What happened to "what I'm doing is revenge. Now I can fullfill my duty as a son."? Arrgh! Ok. Now that I got these two out of my system I can look forward to episode 20. I'm a fan of Gary Sinise after watching him in Forest Gump as Lt. Dan. The other two characters I enjoyed watching are Danny Messer played by Carmine Giovinazzo and Det Don Flack by Eddie Cahill. Flack's deadpan one-liners crack me up all the time! Sure hope I can reach home in time. It's quite a drive from Toh Guan to Pasir Ris. Labels: TV/Movies Monday, January 09, 2006Horatio Caine
![]() Was playing with Photoshop and decided to make a montage of my favorite CSI. My hubby can't stand him though. Labels: TV/Movies Sunday, January 08, 2006Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Watched this with my family today. Wallace is so goofy and lovable and Gromit is as smart as ever. His expression when the radio played Bright Eyes was priceless! I especially loved that part when the rabbit got sucked through his burrow towards the white light. There was plenty of puns and silliness for the kids and young-at-hearts (guilty!). Cracking! I must say! Brilliant!!Labels: TV/Movies Tuesday, November 29, 2005Harry Potter & Goblet of Fire (2005)
Watched it last night with my hubby, without the kids. Not because the film was rated PG-13. My kids decided not to watch it after seeing the trailers. Too scary, they said. Finally I got to sit through the entire show without being interrupted. A 2 & 1/2 hr show means at least 2 toilet trips with the kids. Not to mention my girl's "is the show ending soon?" at 5 minutes intervals half way through the show until the end.
So. Do I like the show? Mixed feelings... Little disappointments... 1. With all that build-up in anticipation prior to the Quidditch World Cup, we should at least get to see some part of the game! I want to see Krum's Wronsky Feint!! I felt like I touched a portkey. One second I was at the game, and the next I was inside their tent. 2. So many characters were axed from the movie.... Winky, Dobby (was looking forward to seeing him again), Ludo Bagman, the Dursleys, Molly Weasley, Percy, Bill & Charlie. Screen time for Draco, Sirius Black (does burning charcoal face in the fireplace count?), Rita Skeeter and even Hedwig were so short. And where's Crookshanks? And all those ghosts floating around in the great hall? And the coverage given to the other 3 competitors, Fleur, Krum & Cedric, was so little that I hardly feel for them even though they were facing the same dangerous tasks as Harry. 3. What's up with the gloomy weather anyway? I know this episode is darker than the precessors, but is all that 'evil' reinforcement with stormy, foggy weather really necessary? 4. Dumbledore is one of my favorite characters. In all the books, Dumbledore is wise, calm, composed and totally in control of his emotions. But in this movie, Dumbledore is so easily agitated, so impatient and seemed so helpless at times. He's forever raising his voice unnecessarily. And he actually grabbed Harry by his 5. Cho in a cheongsum and Parvati in sari? hmm... racial harmony day? 6. The 3rd task.. only self-collapsing hedges and leg-snarling roots? 7. The disagreement between Dumbledore & Cornelius Fudge was taken out. I thought this was a significant exchange since it's a prelude to the Ministry's interference in the running of Hogwarts in book 5. The last portion in the movie is rather anti-climax too. Oh well. I'm nitcpicking. I know trying to squeeze a 700-page book into a 2 1/2 hr movie is no easy task but I was hoping for more. This movie seemed more like a chronological documentation of events rather than developing the storyline. I'm a Harry Potter fan and I have gone through the books a few times. So perhaps I'm being biased. I wonder how a person, who has not read the book, will like the movie. My hubby, not exactly a HP-fan, thought the show lack punch and has lost the magical feel of the first movie. Overall I would give it a 7 out of 10. The cast, especially Rita, Moody, and Voldemort's roles, was excellent. But the part of Rita Skeeter was so compressed that she appeared funny and cute rather than obnoxious. The dragon & underwater tasks were quite nicely done. (Although I didn't quite understand why was the dragon clinging and clawing the turret instead of flying to attack Harry.) There were funny moments too such as the part where Hermione said "we didn't really talk at all. Viktor's more of a physical being" and the scene where Harry & Ron sat dejectedly, watching their desired dates dancing with other guys. And oh yeah, the Dark Mark was totally cool. I wouldn't object to having a tattoo like that. heehee Labels: TV/Movies Thursday, October 20, 2005Bond.. James Bond
So. Daniel Craig is the next James Bond. Now who on earth is Daniel Craig? That name doesn't ring a bell at all! Let's see. My very first James Bond movie was Sean Connery's, followed by Roger Moore. Didn't see that single movie by George Larzenby. Then there was Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan. My favorite Bond is still Roger Moore. He's charming, witty, good-looking, sexy and do i love his one-liners! I think most would consider Sean Connery the perfect Bond. But I find him too gritty. I didn't like Timothy Dalton's version too. He was almost as evil as the villians. I like Pierce Brosnan's. His was a mixture of Connery and Moore.. Brosnan was the charming gentleman but he looked rather worn out. If only he had become a Bond earlier. Remember reading somewhere he couldn't take up the role because of some contractual issues, which was a waste, really. One other thing. Do the actors' names somehow kind of play a part in determining whether he would be a successful Bond? Try saying the following with a deep voice and with a bit of a drawl.. Sean Connery is (slight pause) James Bond... repeat for Roger Moore, George Larzenby, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan See what i mean? Only Larzenby's name didn't go down well with James Bond. Actually Craig's too. So does that mean... ? hmm... I must be bored out of my mind to even suggest this... Lunch break's over! Labels: TV/Movies Thursday, August 04, 2005Obituary
Texas Biscuit wrote an obituary on Nate Fisher of Six Feet Under. (Heck! I don't think this last season will be aired here. I gave up watching SFU a long time ago after our censorship board excised some of the gay-themed subplots. I'll probably order the DVDs from overseas later.)Anyway. I just watched the premiere episode of CSI:Miami Season 3. (Yeah i know i know.. we're way way behind.) I knew Tim Speedle was going to die. I just couldn't stay away from those damn spoilers so I knew how he's going to die. And in a way it sort of cushioned the effect. Speed was my fav character and i would have cried my heart out. But even if I didn't read the spoilers... everything points to him.. First was the trailer. It went something like "..this season is going to be sizzling hot! so hot that one of the CSI won't be able to survive it!" okay someone's going to die. And then there's the opening credits, Speed was moved to the last spot appearing even after Yelina! (i guess it'll be easier to edit him out). A few minutes into the show, an exasperated Calleigh said "I'm going to kill Speed!". Soon after, Horatio commented on Speed's mode of transport telling him he needed something with doors. Speed replied "there's plenty of time for that." Foreshadow galore~~ Rory Cochrane, who played the part of Speed, wanted out. But at least the producers could have arranged a better death for him. He died because he got shot. And he got shot because he was distracted when his gun jammed. And his gun jammed because he hasn't been cleaning it. It happened to him before in a Season 1 episode. And given his character, i thought he would have prevented it from happening a second time. And he didn't even get to shoot/kill anyone! Okay, i got this off my chest. ![]() I've caught a bit of CSI on and off over the years but didn't really pay much attention to it. Partly because i'm not really a TV person and partly because i hardly get a chance to sit through any entire show. You know, too many distractions.. the kids would asking for things, wanting me to help with their stuffs, or they would be fighting. And also because i'm not used to shows with too many characters. Too complicated. I mean, all the while i've watched shows with 2 main characters.., Starsky & Hutch, Laura Holt & Remington Steele, Lavern & Shirly, Mulder & Scully. Keep it simple. Not too long ago I caught an episode of CSI:Miami on Starhub TV. And it happened to be that CSI:M-NY crossover eppy and i must say i enjoyed it. CSI and CSI:M have ended it's 5th season and 3rd season respectively in US. So i'm way way behind. Knowing it will take ages for the DVDs to reach our stores, i bought both Season 1 & 2 CSI:Miami DVDs when i was in US. And back here, i bought Season 1 & 2 of the flagship CSI. Surprisingly the price of the box sets are cheaper in US! Season 1 CSI:M is selling here for S$131, which is about US$77, and I got mine for US$39 from Orlando! And I always thought that videos and stuffs are cheaper here. I've got 72 episodes more to go! It's going to be CSIs very night for the next couple of months! Thanks to Texas Biscuit I got to see this really cool commercial for the Adidas even before it was screened on our TV. The original one has such a wonderful, gradual build up with the guy lighting up his world as he steps into the unknown. Well. I happened to catch it last night on Channel 5. Guess what? Media I cringed at some of the locally-made commercials. O.k., to be fair, we got some real nice ones too! Like er.. erm... I can't really recall any at the moment. But I'm sure there were some nice really ones (I think). What I can't stand is. Along comes a fabulous spot and they have to wreck it. Why? Oh. And I like that song by Karen O so much I put it on my radioblog. You could download it here too. Labels: TV/Movies Wednesday, March 30, 2005X-Files Revisted
Was cleaning up my book shelves over the weekend and found my X-Files 1st season DVD box set tucked away in a corner. I bought it when it was first released and I've forgotten all about it. The 1st two seasons were my favourites. I sort of stopped following the series somewhere in the 4th or 5th season. It was when the conspiracy theory got too heavy for my liking and I sort of lost track of the storyline. And when David Duchovny left the show, I more or less stopped watching. Doggett was still alright. Caught a few episodes of him and Scully. There was another lady agent, couldn't remember what's her name. But I remember I didn't like her at all.
Anyway for the last couple of nights, I stayed up to watch X-Files. Hmm.. perhaps I'll buy the 2nd season box set too. Still waiting for the 3rd season of Starsky & Hutch. It's already released in the States. Yet to arrive at our stores. Kind of slow... Labels: TV/Movies Thursday, February 24, 2005Star Wars - Episode III Pictures

Dewey, a friend of Huggy's mistakenly robbed a store which was a front for a mobster named Malinda. Dewey asked Huggy for help. Huggy called up Malinda and told him he would do Dewey a favor and return the money. Unknown to Huggy, Dewey had told his girlfriend Sarah and was overheard by Sarah's new boyfriend Harry. Both killed Dewey and robbed Huggy, leaving Malinda to believe Huggy wanted the money for himself. So Malinda ordered his men to kill Huggy. Naturely Huggy turned to the only two people he can trust. Personal rating : 7. Hutch told Starsky that the way to tackle muscleman was to "float like a butterfly and sting like a bee". They were ambushed by 2 huge musclemen. I forgot how much I really loved the series! Can you imagine? After 29 years, and the plots were still so engaging. There were so many buddy teams in numerous TV-cops shows, but Paul & David got to be the best team ever! The chemistry between the 2 was fantastic! I'm still as much a fan now as when I was in the 70's. I wonder if I could get hold of Starsky's sweater. Watched on 18 Nov 04 1.30am : Pilot Episode A young couple was having a little fun in a Red White-striped Torino in the midddle of the night. 2 hitman shot them at point blank. Word on the street was that Starsky was to be wasted. Another guy was shot dead in a 2nd attempt to kill the two. But it turned out that the whole thing was staged by the district attorney to lead the duo into thinking the deaths were case of mistaken identities. It was in fact a cover-up so that no one would give 2nd thoughts on the girl who died. Episode 1 Savage Sunday After years of futile appeals to improve the living conditions of their retirement home, an elderly couple decided on a drastic move. They planted 12 sticks of dynamite in the car boot, planning to blow up the city hall. 2 thugs stole their car for a Sunday robbery spree, not knowing that the bomb was set to go off at 5pm. Mood : My brother bought the season 1 DVD set of the original Starsky & Hutch for me soon after the screening of 2004's Starsky & Hutch. Oh how I loved the show then! Never missed a single episode (I think) Good 'o 1975... I was only 9 then (ok, now you know my age) and I had a crush on Starsky played by Paul Michael Glaser. I was like going "SO CUTE!" every time Starsky did something silly/funny/witty. When Paul and David did the cameo towards the end of S&H 2004, I felt kind of sad. How they've aged. How I've aged!
There were so many shows I liked in the 70's.. Charlie's Angels (Kate Jackson!!), T.J. Hooker, CHiPs, The Hardy Boys Mysteries. Had a major crush on Shuan Cassidy & Parker Stevenson. Every time the 2 appeared on screen, I would be trying to decide who I liked better, Shaun or Parker. I skipped recesses so that I could save my allowances for the Heart-Throb magazine then. Then there was SPACE 1999... some nuclear accident at the lunar-based waste disposal site propelled our moon out of Earth's orbit into deep space. Scientific plausibility? errmmm... but definitely an A+ for originality. And how about Battlestar Galactica! I recorded the show then, watched and re-watched. Read the novel of the pilot episode so many times that I could still remember the entire storyline to this day. Anyone remembered young Rick Springfield? He played the part of Captain Apollo's young brother Zac who was shot down within minutes into the show. My fav was cocky Starbuck played by Dirk Benedict. I wonder if anyone recalls Sapphire & Steel. It was a strange science fantasy. I didn't understand what was happening but I definitely remembered being spooked. I wasn't even sure whether Sapphire and Steel were humans. I only knew they were 'elements' (having just learned the Periodic Table in Science class then) who were assigned by ?? to fight against unknown forces trying to break into the "real world" through a weak fabric in the time corrdior. Other 'elements' like Silver, Lead appeared in the episodes. Steel was played by David McCallum (Man fron U.N.C.L.E.) but I can't remember who played the part of Sapphire. I wonder if I could get a copy of the series somewhere. Good old 70's. Shows nowadays don't seem to be so captivating any more. I can't stand reality shows. I managed to catch the re-run of the first audition for Singapore Idol last night. Many thanks to Gu who called me. I've read about the funny antics of some of the Idol-wannabes,so immediately I rushed to switch on the TV set and my newly-purchased DVD recorder.
Titles have already been affectionately bestowed on some of the rejects. They are (ta da!).... Male Stripper : Steven entered the scene in a Gladiator outfit and started stripping as he sang "She Bangs". He was down to his Yellow Speedo when he finished. I've heard of him even before he made this appearance. He has a website announcing his self-proclaimed titles of "The Hunk" and "The Most Handsome Guy in Singapore" and his profession? The Street-Eye-Brow-Plucker! Careless-Whisperer : The message "This is the original sound level. Do not adjust the TV" flashed across the TV screen as Patrick did a politically correct version of Wham's "Careless Whisper"... in whisper! He mentioned something about the song should be sung using the stomach (??!!). All 4 judges begged for him to stop even though they couldn't hear a thing. But he was really polite and humbly asked for advice on how he could improve. He was very persistent and even tried variations of his whispers. Ken (one of the judges) told him that in order for them to make any suggestion, they would first need to be able to hear him. He came out of the audition room looking confused and wondering why the judges wouldn't give him any comments. Percussionist : Her dangling ear-rings swing to the beat of her song. We could all hear the ear-rings, but we couldn't hear her. In fact I couldn't even recall what she sang. Oxy-5 : He wrote the song himself. Something about squeezing pimples. Oxy-5 acne wash ought to use it as an advertisment jingle. Way to go! Para-Para-Lemon-Tree : Para-para-Sakura, a dance made popular by a HK singer Aaron Kwok. Lemon Tree, a song made popular by Fools Garden. Kelvin managed to put these two (possibly the 2 most irritating performances) together and present to national TV "Para Para Lemon Tree"! You'll have to see it to believe it. William Hung, eat your heart out! There are others, Rapper, Slapper, Disciplinary-master, Watermelon-banana-man. I've uploaded the clips to my website. Will provide links later.
